Sporting Moment: Leinster Championship v Kildare, 2008

Having only ever appeared in one Leinster Final in their history and beaten semi-finalists on 14 occasions, Provincial victories are cherished in the Garden County. In May 2008, their victory over Kildare on Jones Road was celebrated almost like an All-Ireland Final win. And rightly so considering it was their first ever win at Croke Park.

Micko the Wicklow messiah

Mick O’Dwyer worked the magic as Wicklow saw off the Lilywhites on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-09 with Tony Hannon and Seanie Furlong helping themselves to 10 points against a 10 man Kildare.

A truly memorable day for all concerned with Wicklow, though they couldn’t back it up against Laois in the quarter-final, losing out by two points.

The Wicklow Way begins in Dublin’s southern suburb of Rathfarnham and travels in a south-south-westerly direction across the Dublin and Wicklow uplands, then through the rolling hill country of southwest County Wicklow to finish in the small, County Carlow village of Clonegal 127 kilometres later.

Wicklow is home to several top notch golf courses and one of the most well known is the Druids Glen course. Nestled in the Wicklow Mountains, one of the most picturesque settings for a round to test your abilities.
