Aiden McGeady will be recovering from an ankle injury for the next months – thankfully, he should be back in time for Ireland’s next Euro 2012 qualifier.
Naturally, we don’t wish bad luck on any player but if there was ever a time to get injured, it’s now.
The Republic of Ireland winger picked up the injury playing for his club Spartak Moscow against Ruban Kazan.
Surgery on the ankle will not be required, according to the club’s medical team, and the former Celtic star will be on the mend for up to eight weeks.
Ireland face Croatia in a friendly in August, a game McGeady will likely miss, but the good news is that he should be fit for the crucial qualifiers with Slovakia and Russia in September.
