Construction company P Elliott & Co Ltd is the subject of a winding-up order from a recruitment company for the non-payment of a debt totalling almost €1.8 million.
MCR Personnel, a specialist in sourcing construction professionals, brought the order to the High Court this week amid allegations that the Cavan-based company was unable to meet debts to the recruitment company of €1.793 million over six years.
MCR are seeking to place P Elliott & Co Ltd into liquidation on the ground that it is insolvent.
According to a report in the Irish Times, other companies are also preparing High Court winding-up petitions.
Ms Justice Mary Laffoy adjourned proceedings on Monday for two weeks.
P Elliott & Co Ltd was established in the early 1940s and as well as being involved in a number of high-profile projects in Ireland, has recently branched into the UK by landing contracts ahead of the London Olympic Games next summer.
But having apparently forked out – or failed to fork out – such crazy figures for recruitment during the boom times, the future is now far from certain.
