Mesut Ozil posts rather bizarre war-like poster of him and his Arsenal teammates ahead of Liverpool clash

We guess it illustrates that Ozil and his team-mates are ready for battle this evening, but it’s not exactly what you’d expect from a player’s Twitter account a few hours before a big game.

We guess it illustrates that Ozil and his team-mates are ready for battle this evening, but it’s not exactly what you’d expect from a player’s Twitter account a few hours before a big game.

The top of the table clash between Arsenal v Liverpool is certainly the game of the day in the Premier League and if anyone had any doubts that the Gunners won’t be up for it on their own patch, one of their main man looked to dispel them with an image tweeted from his personal Twitter account a little while ago.

Featuring 12 members of the Arsenal squad wielding a variety of weapons photo-shopped onto what looks like an extended cast from The Expendables over a tagline that simply reads ‘The Arsenal’, it seems to portray the message that Ozil is ready to lead the Gunners into what will be a hard-fought battle on home turf.

It could be interpreted as a Premier League version of that time-honoured GAA dressing room mantra that we’ve all heard before, “If these lads think they’re going to come swanning onto our patch and come away with a win they’ve another thing coming”. Or something to that effect.

We’re not sure how Liverpool fans will react but if anything it’s far more welcome than the normal platitudes dished out by rival players and managers ahead of significant games and has us looking forward to this evening’s encounter even more.

Bring it on.
