My Big Brad Gypsy Wedding: The Movie, starring Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt is believed to be in talks to star in what will be one of his most unlikely roles, as star of Celebrity Big Brother and My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, Paddy Doherty.

The headline might fool you into thinking that Pitt has planned a gypsy-themed ceremony for his impending nuptials with Angelina Jolie, but don’t worry Angelina that’s not the case so lay off with the dirty looks, alright.

No, instead, the 48-year old actor is being lined up to star as Doherty in a movie based on his recently-released autobiography, Hard Knocks and Soft Spots.

The link remains just a little tenuous at this early stage and seems to be based on Pitt’s previous experience of playing bare-knuckle boxing Irish traveller Mickey O’Neil in Guy Ritchie’s entertaining flick Snatch.

Obviously intrigued by the rituals and sense of ceremony attached to traveller weddings as the rest of us, Pitt is also believed to be a fan of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, having seen it on television in the US.

It still seems a case of putting two and two together and making five, but that’s what the Irish Daily Star are doing today, or at least quoting a showbiz ‘insider’ who believes that it is going to happen.

"It's a fascinating story and will translate really well into a film," says the source.

"Paddy knows that Brad Pitt is interested after playing a traveller in Snatch. My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding is shown in the US and Brad has seen it.

"Paddy would love Brad to play him in a Hollywood film. It could well catapult him into a global superstar," the source added.

Early reports suggest that the movie will be based on book about Doherty’s rather interesting life to date, but whether or not it will cover his lesser-heralded appearances in Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men and When Paddy met Sally is mere speculation at this stage.
