In a sad development that has come to light today, Shay Given has separated from his wife of twelve years.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper, who has two children with his wife Jane, has reportedly moved out of the family home, with a representative of the player confirming the news to the Daily Mail.
“Shay and his wife separated a number of months ago and, in the interests of their young family, they request that their right to privacy continues to be respected,” the spokesperson said.
They report that promotions girl Becky Gibson is now dating the 36 year-old having met at an event following his separation.

Shay and Jane Given were well known for their charity work, having founded Fashion Kicks together and are due to host a charity event this coming May, but it’s not known if this will go ahead.
The news will come as a big surprise with Given considered to be one of football’s Mr. Nice Guys. This will undoubtedly be a difficult time for all concerned and Jane must have been sure she had a keeper on her hands.
