And what a face it is…
According to a story in the Irish Examiner, Niall Quinn has “emerged as the hot favourite to front Sky Sports’ GAA coverage this summer.”
It’s a potential decision that’s not all that surprising as Quinn, who joined Arsenal as a professional footballer back in 1983, has a strong GAA background having played both Gaelic football and hurling growing up in Dublin and, at the age of sixteen, even played for his county in the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship Final.
Over recent years, the former Irish soccer international has moved into punditry and co-commentary and, with Sky’s first live GAA game between Kilkenny and Offaly in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship fast approaching on June 7, the broadcaster will no doubt be confirming their new Sky GAA team in the very near future so watch this space.
Love or loathe Quinn’s presenting and punditry style, however, there’s no way he can be any worse than Jim White’s galling GAA efforts so far, right?
