Do you have your phone on you? Well keep it close, as new statistics reveal that a phone is stolen in Ireland every 20 minutes.
These days, everyone and their granny has a smart phone. If you don’t have an iPhone you probably have a Samsung Galaxy, a Nokia Lumia, or a Blackberry of some sort, but while you might look fancy with your technologically advanced phone, you’re also a prime target for opportunistic crooks.
According to the Irish Independent, almost 30,000 phones were stolen in the country last year – with 16,000 stolen in Dublin alone. The worrying trend is due to the high price of smart phones, which thieves can easily offload once they get their grubby hands on them.
The best thing to do is to keep your phone close to you at all times and leave it in a zipped pocket when you can. The last thing you need is for some little lout to get their hands on your phone’s contents... especially if you have a few saucy pics of the missus on it.
