Alex Ferguson has reiterated his support for David Moyes and believes that his replacement as Manchester United manager will turn things around at Old Trafford.

Moyes has had a disastrous first season since taking over from his fellow Scot as United manager, exiting both domestic cup competitions, facing a tough Champions League return match against Olympiacos and lying seventh in a Premier League that his side won by 11 points last term.

However, Fergie – speaking in Los Angeles ahead of the Academy Awards tonight – says that the former Everton boss will be a success in his new role.

“They (United) will be all right,” Ferguson said. “It’s early days and there have been a lot of changes.

“He (Moyes) needs time. I was there for 27 year, so with a new manager, it takes time. But they’ll be OK.”

United are currently set for their lowest league finish since 1990 and stand to miss out on European competition for the first time since 1990. Moyes, however, currently retains the faith of United’s owners the Glazer Family and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
