Powering Kindness week is all about doing a good deed and Paul Galvin saw the perfect opportunity to do so with one of his greatest rivals on the field.

The idea behind Powering Kindness Week from Electric Ireland, besides getting people to show their charitable and compassionate sides, is to raise money for Special Olympics Ireland, Childline or Breakthrough Cancer Research, and people right around the country have responded positively to the initiative, including the Kerry football star.

Noel O’Leary’s recent retirement from inter-county football will see one of the keenest and hardest fought rivalries in Gaelic football come to an end.

The battles between Cork and Kerry over the past decade were never better encapsulated than the running battle between the two men, with Galvin and O’Leary on several occasions incurring the wrath of the referee as well as the opposition fans for their competitive attitude.

Which makes Galvin’s tweet this morning all the more fitting.

A nice touch from the Kerry star and we hope the former Cork player appreciates the gesture.
