Not long to wait now.
The group stages of our jersey World Cup were a hotly contested affair, but only two shirts from each group could make it all the way to the quarter-finals.
There’s an awful lot at stake here, especially with Ireland still in with a shout to be crowned this year’s nicest World Cup jersey.
So without further ado…
Quarter-final A
Fiji
Fiji stormed through the group of death with 1,683 votes, more than Wales’ and Englands’ combined totals combined.
It’s easy to see why. The top is a pretty snappy affair with cool side-designs and crest that make it stand out. Perfect if you really want to commit to cheering Fiji on against England.
South Africa
The rainbow nation managed to scrape out of Group B as runners-up and are outsiders in the race to be named the World Cup’s finest jersey. Nonetheless, their 872 votes wasn’t a bad amount to receive and they may cause an upset here.
Quarter-final B
Samoa Samoa’s dark blue number had 1,209 votes which was more than enough to make it out of the group. It’s not surprising really, the Samoan artwork within the design is absolutely fantastic. Australia The Wallabies are many people’s favourites to win the actual World Cup, but they’ll do well to get out of this tough quarter-final tussle. The mustard colour isn’t for everyone, but it did inspire 1,222 people to vote for them. Not our cup of tea, but each to their own.
Quarter-final C
Argentina The Pumas jersey was always going to be a popular choice. The baby blue and white stripes combine beautifully with the Nike logo to create a cool casual style. It topped the bunch in Group C with 1,349 votes. France The French jersey finished second place in Group D with 972 votes. We’re hoping the French only manage 2nd place in Group D in the real thing too.
Quarter-final D
Ireland We scraped through as group winners and now the Irish jersey needs your vote to go one step further. Our beautiful green number got 1,036 votes in the group stage.
New Zealand
We’ve never beaten them on the field of play, so we better try to beat them in the ‘lovely jersey’ stakes. The New Zealand jersey is traditional black and looks pretty good. Just not as good as ours.
