Possible photographic evidence that David Luiz has had his Sideshow Bob hair cut off

Pictures have reportedly appeared on the Instagram account of David Luiz’s mum, seemingly providing evidence that David Luiz has had his luscious curly mane chopped off. Say it ain’t so David!

For a number of reasons, David Luiz is one of the most entertaining footballers in the Premier League.

He’s capable of both the sublime and the ridiculous, he takes a mean set-piece and one of his performances was once famously described by Gary Neville as being similar to the efforts of a ten year old playing PlayStation.

The main reason for his appeal though is his hair and although we’re not suggesting that he would be a victim of the Samson effect and wouldn't be the same player without it, he certainly wouldn’t be as interesting as he is at present.

Which is why we’re incredibly worried about pictures reportedly posted on the Instagram account of Luiz’s mother that appeared overnight, showing an electric razor and a significant amount of curly hair (The translation below the second image reads 'David Luiz missed the curls! That crazy kid!'.

No pictures of the Brazilian defender have surfaced yet today, but if the perilous rumours are true, this is the Luiz football fans will have to get used to for the rest of the season.

We’re still holding out hope that it’s all a hoax. If not, there’s only one clip that could possibly sum up how we feel about the whole thing.
