Prepare for traffic delays – Obama’s coming back…

Are you ready for more traffic delays? We only ask because President Barack Obama has confirmed he’ll be coming back to our shores as soon as the US presidential election is over, and all he really wants to do is play a round of golf.

The Irish Daily Star reports that President Obama has said he was so taken by the welcome that he received when he was here the last time that he will, most definitely, make a return trip. Enda is delighted about this development no doubt.

But before you go planning your Obama-brigade-dodging traffic route, you can rest easy. Obama has said that he wants to get the US presidential election out of the way first. The presidential election will be taking place in November – so our roads won’t be going into an extreme lockdown again anytime soon. However, Obama has hinted that his trip could take place next year.

“When we met on St Patrick’s Day, he kept asking about old courses in Ireland. I think he is very keen to play a round when he comes over again,” said Henry Healy, Obama’s eighth cousin.

The media is all talk about Obama for the past week following the fact that Taoiseach Enda Kenny and his wife were guests of honour at a special Shamrock Ceremony at the White House.

“Even though technically it is not St Patrick’s Day, we like to prolong the party around here,” joked President Obama at the function.

Speaking about his brief trip to Ireland, Obama said that his wife Michelle and himself were overwhelmed by the positive welcome they received.

“It was a magical day for us so I have made assurances that we will be returning,” he said.

Good news for Ireland’s tourism industry. Bad news if you can’t get home from work because O’Connell Street has been shut down by Obama’s security.
