Pricing for new ultra-efficient Volvo S60 DRIVe and V60 DRIVe announced

The eco-conscious Volvo customer can now order the S60 or V60 in a particularly economical DRIVe version, which is pronounced drive-e, by the way (those crayzee Swedes!).

Prices for the S60 range from €30,950 (excluding delivery) to €37,750 depending on the level of specification. The V60, with its additional boot space, ranges in price from €32,950 to €39,750.

Both cars are now available with an upgraded 1.6-litre diesel engine that meets the new, strict Euro 5 emission standard that was introduced at the start of the year. The new engine combined with a six-speed manual gearbox and a fuel-saving start/stop function has helped edged CO2 emissions for both cars down to below 120 g/km.

The S60 (pictured, top) and V60 have CO2 emissions of 114 g/km and 119 g/km respectively - corresponding to fuel consumption of 4.4 and 4.6 l/100 km respectively. This put both variants into tax band A in Ireland for both VRT (14%) and annual road tax (€104) – increasingly important in these cost-conscious times.

These new efficient variants of the S60 and V60 sport a DRIVe badge, which is there to inform those in the know that you’re an eco-friendly, fuel-efficient kind of guy.

Orders for both cars are being taken now, with deliveries rolling out from next month.

The Volvo V60

"We have moved ahead very quickly since we launched our first three 119 gram models in Paris in autumn 2008. The fact that we now have seven models below 120 g/km, three of them below 100 grams, emphasises that few of our competitors can match us in the drive for increasingly eco-efficient cars" says Volvo Car Ireland MD, David Baddeley.

"This is particularly important for our customers in Ireland, with a very positive impact on buying and running costs".

The new DRIVe versions of the S60 and V60 join DRIVe versions of the Volvo C30, S40 and V50 already out there, with a Volvo V70 DRIVe (119 g) and a Volvo S80 DRIVe (119 g) due to be introduced by the middle of the year.
