No, it’s not a typo. Roy Keane has been strongly linked with taking over as head coach of the Iceland national team.
The position will be freed up at the end of the month when current boss, Olafur Johannesson, steps down and Keano is believed to be one of the front runners to take over.
The Daily Mail has even gone as far to report that the former Sunderland and Ipswich manager has held talks with the Icelandic FA and will watch the team’s game with Cyprus tomorrow.
Other potential candidates for the job are Steve Coppell and Lars Lagerback with Iceland football chiefs are eager to bring in a well-known figure to head up the campaign for a World Cup qualifying campaign.
Iceland have never reached the finals of a major tournament and are currently rooted to the bottom of Group H in the Euro 2012 qualifiers with just one point from six games.
They are currently ranked 124th in the world by Fifa but that might not be enough to put Roy off regaining employment as he's been out of a job since January after getting the sack from Ipswich.
Earlier this month, Roy turned 40 and we cobbled 10 possible occupations for the former Red Devil hero. Might be worth a look if Iceland shun him!
