Bayern Munich star midfielder Franck Ribéry is set to miss the UEFA Champions League final following a three match suspension handed down by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body today.
Ribéry received a red card in Bayern’s semi-final first-leg tie with Lyon for serious foul play. The French international’s initial one match ban has been extended to three and subsequently he will miss out on the final in Madrid on 22 May.
Bayern Munich defeated Lyon in Stade Gerland on Tuesday night 4-0 on aggregate and will face either Inter Milan or Barcelona who complete their tie on Wednesday night. Bayern Munich may appeal UEFA’s decision within three days of communication.
