'Tis a chilly old evening, so thankfully JOE is here with our Saturday Warm-Up Tracks. With music from Glassjaw, Depeche Mode and The Minutes, the cold will have no effect as you head off into the night.

By Peter Cooney

Glassjaw – Cosmopolitan Blood Loss

The Long Island band have been one of the most influential acts on the post hardcore scene, and whilst no album has been released since 2002’s ‘Worship and Tribute’, their popularity has in no way diminished.

‘Cosmopolitan Blood Loss’ was the first single from ‘Worship and Tribute’ and is probably their most widely aired track to date, aided no doubt with the video, which stars actor, sometime model and sometime singer Vincent Gallo.

Depeche Mode – John the Revelator

It's quite difficult choosing a Depeche Mode song, not because a decent one is hard to find, but because their catalogue of work is just too good and picking just one track is bloody tough.

Released in 2006, ‘John the Revelator’, was another top 20 UK hit. It was released as a double A-side with ‘Lilian’, which was also taken from the 2005 album ‘Playing the Angel’, which was a top 10 record in both the UK and the US.

The Minutes – Secret History

It might be a short track, but its one that is sure to get yah nicely warmed up. The Dublin rockers managed to translate their energetic live performances to record when they released their debut albbum ‘Marcata’ back in May of last year, and subsequently scored a top 20 album as a result.

The band have toured all over and will be embarking on a UK tour next month with The Hives, but thankfully the lads will be playing a few Irish dates either side of the tour, so be sure to check them out.
