A unique tribute album dedicated to the legendary John Martyn will be released in Ireland next month.
Entitled "Johnny Boy Would Love This - A Tribute To John Martyn", the double album – which will also include a DVD of interviews with a number of the artists and videos of performances by Martyn himself – will be available from Friday 12 August.
It will include 30 cover versions of Martyn's songs recorded by some of the biggest stars of the music business, including Beck, Phil Collins, Snow Patrol, David Gray, Paolo Nutini, Morcheeba, Beth Orton and The Cure's Robert Smith.
John Martyn was born in Surrey, England but lived in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny for a number of years before his death.
All proceeds from the release will go to Martyn's family.
