The alarm clock phone app you have to take for a walk before it shuts up

You can’t press the snooze button. You have to get up and walk around to shut the alarm off.

You can’t press the snooze button. You have to get up and walk around to shut the alarm off.

Dragging yourself out of bed is a daily chore. The tempting snooze button is not always your friend and the accidental pressing of the ‘Okay’ button on your phone can mean oversleeping, skipped breakfast and red faces when you crawl into the office late.

So, a new app has been created that forces you to at least get up and move around before the dreaded alarm stops.

According to Mashable, Walk Up is an app you can get for your iPhone that uses the phone’s built-in accelerometer to track your steps. All you have to do the night before you go to sleep is set the number of steps required to shut the damned thing up.

The number of steps required, from a short 10 steps right up to a monster 100-step walk, can be set by you and even if you shake the phone really hard, it won’t fool the phone completely.

Oh yeah, and we forgot to mention that the alarm noise is a screaming man or woman, whatever you prefer. It generates a noise so bad you may well chuck your precious phone out the door.

If you need this extra level of torture in your life, it’s just $0.99 in the App Store.
