The BBC have come up with a nifty little video graphic explanation of the facts and figures relating to the most expensive football league in the world.

We're at the start of a new Premier League season that is bound to bring with it its fair share of excitement, disappointment, upsets, revelations and moments of sheer brilliance.

Forty four teams have taken part in the league since its inception in 1992. The average player ears £28,000 per week.

In the season ahead there'll be 760 games spread across 38 weeks.
