The Traxxas XO-1 is being called the world’s cheapest supercar, as it will reach 0-100kph in just 2.3s and costs just €818. However, there’s a catch.

The car may have a top speed of 160 kph, be 0.16 seconds quicker than a Bugatti Veyron off the line and a fraction of the Bugatti’s price. However, if you bought the Traxxas XO-1 expecting to take the Nurburgring in under 8 minutes you’d be left feeling a tad short-changed.

Why? Well, because the Traxxas XO-1 is a 27-inch long remote-controlled car. So how does a remote controlled car beat a Veyron off the line? Simples.

An aluminium space frame and high-output Traxxas-Castle Mamba Monster Extreme brushless motor (deep breath) powers all four wheels. The motors are powered by a pair of Power Cell 3S 5000mAh lithium-polymer batteries, which we assume are the ‘the dog’s b****x’ of the battery world.

You’re probably wondering how a remote control car can hit 160 kph and yet have enough down force to stick to the track. Well, front and rear spoilers (that actually work) keep the car pinned under high speeds.

To control the car you can use either the remote control that comes with the car or you can jazz things up by downloading the Traxxas app in the app store and use you iPhone to control the car.

Head over to the Traxxas website to have a closer gander at the speed demon machine and check out what is possibly one of the best adverts ever made for a remote controlled machine.
