That's our lot for today folks. Champions League took the attention away from the transfer gossip, but still a fair bit going on with the likes of Alberto Aquilani, Joey Barton, while Chelsea don't look as if they're finished yet. Modric and Pereira could still arrive, while Malouda could be on his way out the door. Back for our last tracker of the week tomorrow. Until then...
Damien Comolli on Aquilani's move back to Italy: "I want to pay tribute to the way Alberto has conducted himself during these discussions.
"Throughout the entire process, his only desire has been to play football and he has put this ahead of any other considerations and at personal cost to himself.
"We wish him well for the season ahead."
Liverpool have confirmed that Alberto Aquilani will join AC Milan on loan. An option to buy the player has been included in the deal.
Sky Sports News reporting that Luka Modric is currently locked in talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. A last-ditch attempt to get that move to Chelsea after all?
It's all gone very quiet on the transfer front in the last while. Well, we did go put the kettle on and finish off a pack of Jammy Dodgers so that would explain a lot. Hold up, QPR are looking to sign Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines.
Another tweet of interest from @honigstein: "Freiburg just re-iterated that no club has matched their valuation for Cisse."
@joncarterESPN: "Alberto Aquilani.. new nickname? 'The Italian hot potato'? Roma, Juve, now Milan. He's considering Inter just to complete the quartet."
Joey Barton about to become a QPR player.
"The latest is that we are completing the final stages of the medical, so we can get that over and done with and see where we are at," Barton told Sky Sports News. "I've not made a final decision yet but, having spoken to the club, it's a club with ambition and I had to come down and hear what they had to say and go through the formalities of the medical side of it just in case something does happen."
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed the club has made a 'sizeable' bid for Porto full-back Alvaro Pereira.
@henrywinter: "Fabregas in Monaco keeps saying 'we' when referring to #afc win over Udinese. "We played v well, v happy for fans. They deserve to be in CL"
Spurs are featuring prominently in the gossip columns today, but they won't be signing Lassana Diarra anytime soon if the man himself is to be believed. "The information about my departure is a lie," he told AS. "There is no agreement from Tottenham and I do not think there will be." Spurs fans will take heart by the 'do not think' part of that quote, but he doesn't seem too keen to leave the Bernabeu.
This one just in - Irishman Daryl Murphy has joined Ipswich on loan from Celtic.
In actual transfer news, Spurs want to bring Juventus winger Iago Falque to the club on loan. Do you think 'Arry has a fetish for doing deals on deadline day and will wait until next Wednesday to carry out all potential transfers or is just us?!!
It's not transfer news, but we thought you might be interested to know that Alex Ferguson has called off his boycott of the BBC. No more Mike Phelan on Match of the Day then. Big loss.
Nacional's Sebastian Coates is on his way to Liverpool for a medical and to sign a contract with the Reds. Great signing, aplyer that should adapt to the Premier League very well.
Martin Jol is doing his best to bring Brazilian-born Italy and Juventus striker Amauri to Craven Cottage.
Florent Malouda's future at Chelsea is in further doubt, going by the Guardian’s report that the Blues are to lodge an improved bid for Alvaro Pereira after Porto rejected an opening offer of £16.6m for the Uruguay international. Pereira can play left side of defence or midfield.
Here’s a bit of business done early this morning. Sydney FC have confirmed the signing of Brett Emerton from Blackburn. The 32-year-old Aussie will play his last game for Rovers on Saturday against Everton.
Looks like Joey Barton will join QPR. He tweeted last night: "Don't want to leave Newcastle........I've made that clear but my hands are tied."
Juventus are believed to be set on ramping up their interest in Chelsea winger Florent Malouda, now that Juan Mata has arrived at Stamford Bridge. But the Frenchman doesn't seem too eager on leaving the club.
"I love Chelsea. I'm settled here and want to win back the Premier League," he told skysports.com.
"I like the competition and I'm ready to fight and keep my place in the starting line-up."
Get this: according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have had a loan bid rejected for Real Madrid's Kaka.
We're back again for another day of transfer news and rumours. First up this moning we're back on the curious case of Joe Cole, who makes €100,000 a week at Liverpool and doesn't do very much for it. We put him at around 17th in the pecking order of midfielders at the moment for Kenny Dalglish. Anyway, Harry Redknapp wants to bring the 29-year-old to Spurs.
