Transfer talk: United linked with every living midfielder, Cissé could leave Toon and Jose sticking with the strikers he has

David Moyes could be about to call Saul as the Old Trafford hierarchy get more and more antsy about still having Anderson on the books.

United sent Phil Neville on a handy little jaunt to Spain to watch Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, currently on loan at Rayo Vallecano, following the win over Swansea on Saturday.

Niguez is a Spanish under-21 international and can play in both central midfield and defence, is only 19, and is also wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea.

Pip made the most of his trip to the Iberian Peninsula, if the nice folk of Fleet Street are to be believed, also enquiring about Ander Herrara (unlikely), Koke (less likely), and Real Madrid pair Asier Illaramendi and Isco (snowflake’s chance in the pits of hell).

United are also still sending amorous glances in the direction of Juan Mata, but who isn’t? He’s very dashing.

Still, he got away from the shitty weather and Moyes’ death stare of impending doom for five minutes, so well done to the younger Neville.

Away from the Theatre of Disenchantment, Chelsea are a day closer to bringing Nemanja Matic back to the club from Benfica, while Jose Mourinho has paid tribute to Fernando Torres’ latest resurrection by insisting the Blues will not sign a new striker in January.

“Fernando is calm. He knows we are not going into the market now,” said Mourinho. “In the summer, normally a club like Chelsea is always trying to improve and get new players but he knows that we like him and support him and he knows there is no problem.”

Former goal machine Papiss Cissé, finally, is set for semi-retirement in Qatar while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is saying nought about bringing Wilfried Zaha and Fabio to Cardiff City from United.
