ESB Electric Ireland has announced the drivers and hashtags for what’s set to be one of the most interesting road races in Irish history.
After an intensive nationwide search, ESB Electric Ireland today announced that Mike Carey and Liz Cotter from Cork and Ian O’Flynn from Mullingar have been selected as the lucky drivers who will help Tweet ‘em Home for Christmas. But what exactly is this ‘Tweet ‘em Home for Christmas’ we hear you say?
Well, firstly, lucky Liz, Ian and Mike have bagged themselves €10,000 for their chosen charity, thanks to ESB Electric Ireland, and now they have a race ahead of them that could see them bag an additional €20,000. The three drivers won't be racing alone though, as they will have celebrity navigators with them to lend a hand.
The drivers will work alongside their ‘star navigators’ and the three teams will compete to generate Tweets using dedicated hashtags, with the tweets powering their cars as they cross the country. People can show their support for one of the three charities by tweeting or posting on Facebook the given hashtags to top up their tank. Simples.
Team A includes musician Mundy and comedian Joe Rooney who will represent Concern Worldwide and to help Tweet ‘em home for Christmas simply use the hashtag, #ESBElectricIrelandTeamA. Team B will represent the Irish Cancer Society and star navigators comedian Andrew Stanley and RTE presenter Katie Van Buren have the #ESBElectricIrelandTeamB hashtag. Team C will drive for the ISPCC and magician Keith Barry and rugby commentator Brent Pope can be reached with the #ESBElectricIrelandTeamC hashtag.
The teams will travel from Dublin to Galway and back again this Thursday and Friday, December 8th and 9th in a Renault Trophy, a DeLorean and a New York yellow taxi cab.
We’re also involved in the race here at JOE, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for more information on the event and for more on what we’re going to be getting up to.
People can follow the progress of each of the teams in real time using the Facebook App on the ESB Electric Ireland Facebook page www.facebook.com/electricireland
