The remainder of the current season of Charlie Sheen’s Two and a Half Men sitcom has been cancelled, following a radio rant in which the troubled star slated the show’s creator.

“Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of Two and a Half Men for the remainder of the season,” read a statement from the US network CBS. Sheen earns a reported $1million per episode.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the decision was made after Sheen criticised the show’s creator Chuck Lorre in a US radio podcast. Sheen was upset that the show was put on hold temporarily after he was admitted to hospital last month

Speaking on the Alex Jones Show (not the most stable individual himself), Sheen had some choice words for US sitcom veteran Lorre, who was responsible for The Big Bang Theory and Cybill: “I embarrassed him in front of his children and the world by healing at a pace that this un-evolved mind cannot process. I’ve spent, I think, close to the last decade, I don’t know, effortlessly and magically converting your tin cans into pure gold. And the gratitude I get is this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write.”

Sheen later challenged the show creator to a fight in a UFC octagon cage. “You’ve been warned, dude, bring it,” he said. “Most of the time, and this includes naps, I’m an F18, bro… There’s a new sheriff in town and he has an army of assassins.”

The actor, the highest-paid on US television, later provided a bizarre open letter to gossip site TMZ, which included the following passage: ‘I gracefully ignored this folly for 177 shows … I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can’t handle my power and can’t handle the truth. I wish him nothing but pain in his silly travels especially if they wind up in my octagon. Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words – imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists.’
