The game is still 10 days away but the build-up to the massive Manchester United/Liverpool clash at Anfield is already under way.
And the good news for United fans is that Nemanja Vidic is expected to be fit to return to Alex Ferguson’s starting XI.
Once upon a time, when Fernando Torres was a Red terror, Vidic was a favoured target for the Liverpool fans but things have changed.
Now it will be Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll who will lead the home charge, and Fergie will welcome the return of the big Serbian.
Vidic injured his calf on the opening day of the Premier League and hasn’t played since. But he has joined the Serbian squad for this week’s internationals and if he comes through the games with Italy and Slovenia intact, he will be back in the United rearguard.
Fergie will hope Vidic can restore some order to his team’s defence. United are top of the league but they have looked shaky at the back, especially in the recent games against Basel and Norwich.
