Depending on your view, a gallant/creepy policeman was left heartbroken/got his comeuppance in the US for asking a woman that he gave a speeding ticket if she wanted to for a date afterwards.
After pulling over Chicago citizen Evangelina Paredes on October 22, Stickney policeman Chris Collins was so entranced by her beauty that he felt compelled to later write her a handwritten love note - after first issuing her with a $132 speeding ticket, obviously.
As it turns out, Collins searched for Ms Paredes in the motor-vehicles records for her address following the incident and then left a note on her car windshield two days later. Now is that incredibly romantic or astoundingly creepy?
'It's Chris... that ugly bald Stickney cop who gave you that ticket,' begins the note. 'I know this may seem crazy and you're probably right, but truth is I have not stopped thinking about you since. I don't expect a girl as attractive as you to... even go for a guy like me, but I'm taking a shot anyways.'
Though the note ends with Chris telling Evangelina that she understands if she doesn't want to contact him, she went one better, as she's suing him for invading her privacy.
The letter caused plaintiff to suffer great fear and anxiety,' says Evangelina's lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages on account of Collins using 'authority and position as a police officer not to protect the public, but to attempt to manipulate the plaintiff into going out on a date with him.' Sorry Chris, but we reckon this one just wasn't meant to be...
