First it was Fernando Torres, then it was Didir Drogba. Now Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade Chamberlain gets the honour of a Gary Neville ‘goalgasm’.

All commentators have verbal tics, sayings they go to again and again. Some are annoying, some are endearing, but like Ryle Nugent’s ‘Tommy Bowe’ call, they can ultimately become more famous than the man with the mic.

Sky Sports analyst supreme Gary Neville is well known for his insightful Monday night show but he is in danger of becoming even better known for his ‘goalgasms’.

Making its debut after Fernando Torres killed off Barcelona in last year’s Champions League, it popped up again when Didier Drogba scored in the final of the same competition. Since then he has had some close calls, but nothing compared to those two.

Now we have video proof that even out on the pitch and away from a TV studio, the Gary Neville goalgasm can make an appearance.

At an England training session this week, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a very, very nice volley. If you listen closely to the video above, you will hear the unmistakable Neville scream in the background as the England coach couldn’t contain himself.

The man himself even retweeted the video.

Looks like we are just going to have to accept the crazy cry as part of our football lives from now on.
