Mayo have enough All-Ireland Final songs at this stage that they could release a best of album and head off on a world tour, but in fairness to this latest effort, it’s a catchy number indeed.
Sang by Gary O’Malley with, if the accompanying video is anything to go by, the entire population of Mayo providing back-up vocals, the song is dedicated to Mayo’s main man James Horan and his band of merry men attempting to lead the green and red to the promised land and a first All-Ireland title in 62 years.
Using another classic sporting song, ‘The Mighty Quinn’ as its inspiration, Horan’s Men will be an easy number for Mayo supporters to sing along to before during and after the big game next weekend and better yet, all proceeds raised from the song will be donated to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice.
