Arsenal detractors would say that they are a bunch of fancy-dans with a soft centre. Probably not the best idea to play ballet dancers in a new advert, then.
Whatever about sometimes lacking physical strength, the Gunners are amongst the most fleet-footed operators on the continent and perhaps it is no wonder when you see the preparation that Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Song and Bacary Sagna put in before matches.
That quartet were prepared to put their dignity on the line when starring in a new advert for the Citroen DS3 lately, which shows them swaoping balls for ballet as they strut their stuff alongside some very attractive masters of the craft.
Granted, the lads won’t be turning down offers for Swan Lake on the back of this effort, but they seemed game enough and despite the inevitable ribbing they’ll get in the dressing room, they probably secretly enjoyed themselves too.
Footballers masquerading as ballet dancers may be slightly believable, but Martin Keown playing a classical pianist? We’re not having that.
Too far, Citroen. Too far.
