We say interview, but it was more like two men from different planets attempting to have a conversation. And it lasted for about ten seconds.

Tevez, of course, scored a brilliant hat-trick as he continued his post-Munich redemption in City’s comprehensive 6-1 thrashing of Norwich at Carrow Road.

Because he was deservedly voted man of the match, he was obliged to thrust his distinctive mug in front of the Sky cameras afterwards to receive a bottle of bubbly and although we know that some footballers aren’t exactly media-friendly, never before have we witnessed someone so keen to stay clear of the limelight.

Asked by Sky reporter Andy Burton – who is carving out an impressive reputation for uncomfortable interviews, just ask Kenny Dalglish – whether it was good to be back, Tevez grabbed the bottle of champers and replied: “Thank you. I man of the match? Thank you,” before rushing to the sanctuary of the dressing room, where is a hero once again despite doing all within his power to leave the club for the best part of six months prior to his return.

Burton tried to get a response from Tevez about whether or not he dived in the first half – he didn’t and should have had a penalty instead of being booked – but the Argentine rightly ignored the rather smug Sky hack and left it to his diplomatic captain Vincent Kompany to clean up his mess.

We know that Burton might come across as a bit of an eejit and that Tevez isn't exactly obliged to enjoy the post-match riff-raff, but it's still a bit shambolic, as is the fact that Tevez seems to have barely a word of English despite six years playing football in the Premier League.
