Video: Cheeky free kick routine undoes Arsenal, but is it a legal goal?

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with the shot and the finish (possibly feel the ‘keeper should have done a bit better there for me Clive) but it’s the moments beforehand which are causing us to query the legitimacy of this number.

Boreham Wood FC, a team from the Blue Square Bet Conference South, had a friendly against what we assume was a depleted Arsenal XI selection on Saturday, and tried out this number, straight from the training ground we imagine.

At first, it doesn’t look too clear, but if you watch closely you can see the man standing over the ball lifts it up, moving it to the left and leaving the wall out of sorts. The ref seems to blow the whistle just as he’s lifting it, so it’s possibly handball, but the goal stood anyway.

We presume the Arsenal lads weren’t thrilled about it, but we suspect you might not get away with this one in the Champions League Final. Still, give it a go in your Sunday league and see what happens.

Hat-tip of the sombrero to the lads at Sphera Sports for the video
