In about ten seconds on Friday, Danny Cipriani showed why he causes such a division of opinion amongst rugby fans, giving ammunition to both his fans and critics alike.

To some, he is one of the most naturally gifted fly-halves seen for many a year and is blessed with a flamboyance and ability to produce something out of nothing.

To others, he is a man who has wasted his God-given talent with a lack of discipline and tendency to be distracted by temptations off the field. It has to be said that amongst those off-field temptations were a brief fling with Kelly Brook and a rumoured dalliance with Aussie model Lara Bingle, so we’re not going to be too hard on him on that score.

On Friday night, he got on the end of a marvelous flowing move during Melbourne Rebels' victory over Western Force to touch down under the posts, but celebrated with a dance move that probably outdid some of the most ridiculously awful soccer celebrations we have seen over the years.

Not only that, but he completed the celebration having evidently strained his hamstring while running under the posts unopposed and while his so-called ‘dancing’ mightn’t have inflamed the damage, surely getting treatment, as opposed to embarrassing himself in front of the large crowd and thousands of others watching on television, should have been of greater concern.

Cipriani won’t be with the Melbourne Rebels for much longer – his move to Sale for next season has already been confirmed – and we’re not sure that this sort of carry-on will go down well with his new teammates. He can expect a size 17 boot up the arse from Tony Buckley anyway, that’s for sure.

Check out Cipriani’s try and subsequent spoiling of said try with the daft celebration in the video above.
