Gary Neville was as usual pulling no punches on the first Monday Night Football of the season, but he may have been pulling something else.
The pundit’s forthright views have been a big hit on the show and he has now been joined by no-nonsense defender Jamie Carragher to discuss al the goings on in the Premier League. Perhaps with such a build-up to the first show he needed to let off some steam, though in front of millions of viewers might not have been the best place to do so.
Of course Sky Sports pundits are no strangers to getting into a bit of strife – Messrs Gray and Keys, you know who you are – but this is possibly a little more harmless.
And you only have to cast your mind back to his orgasmic-reactions to the likes of Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba in the past and it all begins to make sense.
And any stare Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald can do, Neville can do better.
