Video: Feast your eyes on this stunning free-kick Ronaldinho scored last night
It turned out to be a bit of a forgettable night for the Brazilian legend, but he still managed to score something of a collector’s item from a set-piece.
Ronaldinho’s Atletico Mineiro suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Raja Casablanca at the Club World Cup last night, thus depriving him of a reunion with former Barca boss Pep Guardiola and depriving football fans of the chance of seeing what looked like the only half-decent pairing facing off in the final of the competition. No offence Raja.
Even in defeat, Ronaldinho managed to stand out above the crowd after scoring Atletico’s only goal from a free-kick, bending the ball into the far corner that the Raja ‘keeper was supposed to be minding, but so good was the execution of the free-kick that a little step to the wrong side meant he had no chance of keeping it out.
While it was a stunning victory for the Moroccan side, a lot of their players seemed more interested in securing some Ronaldinho memorabilia rather than celebrating the victory when surrounding him in the hope of securing his boots and his headband afterwards.
Even in defeat the man inspires awe and hopefully there’s a lot more of the type of genius he produced last night to come yet.
