Don’t mess with this kid – goat gets off police charge for munching flowers at a museum
by Genna Patterson
A goat charged with eating flowers in a museum’s grounds in Sydney, Australia beat the law yesterday. Gary the Goat was caught munching greenery outside the Museum of Contemporary Art last August. His owner, James Dezarnaulds, a comedian, was fined $440 at the time and went to court to contest the fine with Gary (who dressed up for the occasion in a fancy hat).
The court found that there was no evidence that Dezardnaulds, also known as Jimbo Bazoobi, brought his goat to the museum with the intention of causing disruption and damage to the grounds.
Gary’s lawyer, Paul McGirr, told the court that the wrong infringement notice had been issued as it related to a person, and not a goat. He also maintained that Bazoobi did not put Gary up to it. No kidding.
The fine was cancelled but Gary the goat (or his owner) still had to pay the legal costs for the appeal. Check out the video to see the happy pair after the court case.
