Video: Goalkeeper kicks ball off his own defender’s arse for comical own goal

What a bummer…

What a bummer…

Anyone who has played football to any level will probably be familiar with a game or variations of a game known as ‘redarse’, where a player is forced to stand with his back to a teammate/teammates and let them whack a ball in the direction of his rear end as hard as they possibly can.

It is a game that normally takes place at the end of a training session when all the hard work has been done, but a goalkeeper and a defender took it upon themselves to give it a go during the clash between Vasco da Gama and United FC in South Africa at the weekend.

We’re sure that wasn’t the intention of the goalkeeper in the video above, but it sure looked that way as he rattled the ball off the arse of a defender who was bent over and looking in the opposite direction before frantically chasing back in a vain attempt to keep it out of his own net.

Several of the players on the team who had just conceded the goal seemed to instantly fall on the floor afterwards and whether it was because they were distraught at conceding a goal or were just laughing at the sheer hilarity of what had happened, we’re not sure.

You wouldn’t blame them either way, in fairness.
