Man. Utd appear to be cantering to a 20th league crown tonight as Robin Van Persie has grabbed a first-half hat-trick
By Declan Whooley
The United frontman has had a bit of a goal drought recently by his lofty standards, but took just two minutes to get off the mark tonight with a tap-in, but it was his second strike which showed supreme technical ability.
Wayne Rooney’s through ball from the half-way line was met by a thunderous first-time volley from the Dutchman to claim his 23rd goal of the season.
Just after the half hour mark he had his hands on the match ball after rifling a shot to the roof of the net after sorting his feet out.
It is fitting that the man who has been so instrumental in United’s campaign should grab the limelight on the night the Premier League crown looks set to be confirmed as returning to Old Trafford.
