Argentinean club Independiente were relegated for the first time in their history recently so the club decided to hold a meeting with fans in an effort to appease their anger. It did not end well.

Having won more domestic titles than anyone else but two clubs in Argentina and having won the Copa Libertadores a record seven times, fans of Independiente are not used to lean times, which was why relegation from the Primera Division came as such a shock at the end of this season.

President Javier Cantero subsequently chaired a meeting to speak with the fans for the first time since relegation at the club’s basketball arena earlier this week, but with a number of Independiente ultras present, it soon descended into chaos, with chairs and even a wooden table thrown at Cantero, who was forced to flee along with a number of elderly club members sat behind him on the stage.
