It’s no wonder Manchester United lost against Crystal Palace last night when one of their players was the victim of two vicious ghost tackles in quick succession.
United’s Ezekiel Fryers was attempting to join up with a United attack when a ghost appeared from nowhere to trip him up while he ran into the box, and also gave him a quick ankle tap while he headed back into defence once the move broke down.
What is surprising about the whole affair is that it hasn’t been offered up as an excuse for the defeat by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who felt the need to apologise to supporters afterwards.
On a wider scale, the incident is even more worrying as it is the latest in a spate of ghost attacks that have affected grounds across Britain of late.
Observe Mick McCarthy’s rather spooky confrontation with a ghoulish spirit prior to a Wolves game in the recent past in the clip below.
