Video: Move over Jordan, Dr J is still dunking (just) at 63
The man who was taking flight in the NBA long before Jordan, Julius ‘Dr J’ Erving, is still dunking at 63.
One of the first ever true NBA stars, Julius ‘Dr J’ Erving was way ahead of his time. Starting in 1971, the 6’7” legend was a spectacular player, who liked to dunk in an era when that was still a rarity. If he was playing in the NBA now, he would be YouTube gold but we only have very limited, and very cool, footage of his high-flying career.
But perhaps in response to the recent video of His Airness Michael Jordan showing he’s still got it at 50, the NBA posted a video of Dr J dunking at the ripe old age of 63. Okay, it’s not the crushing windmill dunk that he was capable of in the mid 1970s but the guy is 63, so cut him some slack.
We await Jordan’s response...
