The underdogs had a magical romantic day in the FA Cup as they secured a replay against the big money Premier League giants.

By Adrian Collins

Chelsea almost suffered an FA Cup shock defeat to League One Brentford but for a late equaliser from Fernando Torres, which comes close to being as shocking as if they had actually lost the game.

Brentford took the lead twice, first through a great finish from a rebound off the woodwork of Chelsea's goal by Brentford's Trotta.

The pick of the goals however was probably this great piece of skill and finish (above) from the young Brazilian Oscar, as he takes the ball down out of the sky with a brilliant touch, weaves his way past a pair of defenders and stabs the ball home from inside the box with his right to equalise.

Brentford went ahead again with a penalty, but Torres scored a late goal to rescue Chelsea from a shock defeat before holding his finger to his lips to tell the Brentford fans to be quiet, who had been booing him and singing “You're not worth a quid, Fernando Torres, you're not worth a quid”.

The replay could be invaluable for Brentford, who may well be able to keep the accounts healthy well into next season with the cash injection they'll get from another live game on TV.

With that said, the pressure won't be lifted off Benitez in any way after this result, and it looks less and less likely that the “interim” part of his contract will be changed come the summer.

And for no other reason than we love this picture, here's John Terry celebrating as only JT Captain Leader Legend can after Torres' goal.
