Does Papiss Cisse ever score run of the mill tap-ins? He was up to his old tricks for Senegal yesterday with a bullet of a header against the Ivory Coast… from 25 yards out.
It’s early days in this season yet, but the Newcastle striker has so far failed to live up to the heady heights of the second half of the last campaign, when he couldn’t stop scoring goals of the highest quality, his effort against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge a particular highlight.
Toon fans will be encouraged by the fact that he was on the scoresheet again for Senegal yesterday and as is his wont, it was no ordinary effort.
Running onto a long ball pumped over the top towards the Ivory Coast goal, Cisse met the ball at maximum force and sent it over the keeper and into the top corner at a pace usually only generated with the boot.
Senegal eventually lost 4-2, but to score a goal like that will surely come as some consolation to Cisse and might just be the tonic to kick-start a return to his old self in the Premier League.
Check it out for yourself in the video above.
Hat tip to the good folks at 101GreatGoals for this one.
