Video: Reading under-18 player scores with a brilliantly innovative free-kick

You may have seen this free-kick technique used by Matt Le Tissier in the past and to be honest, it should be used far more often. Great idea, great execution and great goal.

You may have seen this free-kick technique used by Matt Le Tissier in the past and to be honest, it should be used far more often. Great idea, great execution and great goal.

It was scored for the Reading under-18 team by one Liam Kelly, who as far as we’re aware has not yet represented Ireland but is sure to have a bit of Irish in him with a name like that.

Standing over a free-kick just outside the box, Kelly chipped the ball up to himself after it was rolled back to him and cracked a lovely shot over the wall and into the far corner. One day after being uploaded to YouTube, the video has attracted almost 80,000 views and deservedly so.

Just like Matt Le Tiss in his prime…
