Video: Ridiculous number of celebrities appear in an Irish best man’s tribute to the bride and groom

He must be privy to a special celebrity phonebook that nobody else is, because County Down man Stephen Henning managed to convince a helluva lot of celebrities to appear in a wedding video for his brother and his new bride.

In days gone by, all the best man had to do at a wedding was to ensure the groom didn’t get ridiculously drunk and make a few jokes at his expense but Down man Stephen Henning has raised the bar for best men everywhere and he’s raised it very high indeed.

According to UTV, Stephen’s brother Michael married his new bride Victoria on Friday and as a tribute to the happy couple, Stephen broadcast a video of messages from celebrities that he had been compiling since the start of the year having sent them a request to do so on Twitter after asking that they follow him first so he could send them a direct message without his brother knowing. Given the amount of requests that the celebrities in question probably get to do just that we’re surprised that it worked. But it did.

As a result Northern Irish sports stars such as Graeme McDowell, Stephen Ferris, Jonny Evans and Rory Best all recorded messages of good luck, as did compatriots such as Eamonn Holmes and Ash, while Irish actor Chris O’Dowd, Alan Fletcher of Neighbours, comedian John Bishop and many, many more stars sent their best wishes to Michael and Victoria.

He may well have spoiled everything for best men who haven’t a hope in hell of matching something like this in the future, but it was a nice gesture nonetheless.
