A surprise meeting with three Liverpool legends and the chance to win tickets to Liverpool’s last game of the season? It doesn’t get much better for Irish Liverpool fans than that.
As if mounting a genuine challenge for a first title in 24 years and watching their team play some of the most exciting football seen in the Premier League for some time wasn’t enough, a selection of Irish Liverpool fans were in for an extra treat last month when club greats Robbie Fowler, Didi Hamann and Jason McAteer made a surprise appearance and made their day in Dublin.
The lads were in town to take part in a Carlsberg event in Dublin last month to compete along with fans in a skills contest on a spectacular rooftop pitch in the city with the winners securing a VIP trip to Liverpool FC’s last game of the season and the chance to play at Anfield.
Earlier in the day, Fowler, McAteer and Hamann unexpectedly dropped in on unassuming Liverpool fans in a special video-booth set up by Carlsberg on South William Street, where fans were recounting stories of how they have been ‘Great’ fans, hoping to win some prizes.
The ‘Greats’, hiding in a secret section of the booth, surprised the fans resulting in some great stories, brilliant one-liners and hilarious reactions. Three lucky fans were surprised by the ‘Greats’ and challenged to return with three mates each within 90 minutes to take part in a skills challenge on the amazing rooftop football pitch built overnight nearby, with the prize of a trip to play at Anfield with their mates up for grabs for the winning team.

The prize includes tickets to the premium Carlsberg Lounge for a meal and event with club ‘Greats’, transfers and accommodation. To top this all off is the money can’t buy experience of getting kitted out in the dressing room and walking out of the iconic Anfield tunnel to play with your mates on one of the most famous pitches in the world…and to play on the pitch with some Liverpool FC Greats!
The competition is strictly over 18’s only and runs from March 13th until the closing date of April 20th. The truly ‘great’ news is that there are 20 more top prizes still up for grabs.
These can be won by purchasing Carlsberg in participating pubs and off licences, entering via Carlsberg Football’s Facebook page or listening into Newstalk during April for a further opportunity to win the prize.
