Video: Sub comes on, receives one of the fastest red cards ever, then begins laughing hysterically

This is easily the best reaction to a red card we’ve ever seen.

This is easily the best reaction to a red card we’ve ever seen.

Unless they know exactly what they’re doing – deliberate handballs on the line or fouling an opponent on purpose just as he’s about to go through on goal – the reaction of most footballers to a red card is a mixture of incredulity and anger, followed by the player almost inevitably untucking his jersey from his shorts on the way off the pitch (a nod to @footballcliches for that one).

Referees would certainly be happier if more players reacted like Serge Dijehoua of Greek second division side Gylfadas, who was sent off within seconds of coming on in a clash against Olympiakos Volos at the end of last month.

Dijehoua was dismissed very harshly for a stray arm in the face of an opponent and while he was understandably baffled at the red card, we don’t think anybody expected him to start laughing as if he had been told that Joe Kinnear was the greatest Director of Football of all time.

Laughter is the best medicine after all.
