It took a little over half an hour for Liverpool to break the deadlock against Stoke and it was a pretty decent hit by Daniel Sturridge to give the Reds a half-time lead at Anfield.

By all accounts, the off-season cobwebs have been blown off and Liverpool and Stoke are providing plenty of entertainment at Anfield in the first game of the new season.

It is the Reds who lead thanks to Daniel Sturridge, who struck a powerful effort through the legs of Robert Huth and into the bottom corner for what he will hope is the first of many goals this season and for those Fantasy Football fanatics wondering, it was Iago Aspas who laid on the final pass.

Having the Premier League back is great, isn’t it?
