You may have come across some angry coaches in Gaelic Football, hurling, rugby, soccer or other sports in your time, but not many of them will be a patch on this guy.
Mike Rice, coach of the Rutgers college basketball team, was fired this afternoon after video footage emerged of him physically confronting his players in practise while he was also heard to use homophobic slurs as well.
The footage was broadcast on ESPN on Tuesday evening and attracted sharp criticism from a number of sources afterwards – including New Jersey governor Chris Christie – prompting Rutgers to take action and dismiss a coach who wasn’t exactly universally popular before his departure.
The video at the top of the page shows ESPN analysts poring over the specific footage that got Rice the sack, while the video below is a compilation of the best/worst bits from a man who makes Alex Ferguson seem like a shrinking violet by comparison.
Calm down man!
