Video: This penalty taken in Serbia yesterday is easily one of the worst penalties of all time

And you thought that Pires/Henry effort of a few years ago was bad?

And you thought that Pires/Henry effort of a few years ago was bad?

The World Cup is around the corner so you’re very likely to see some horrendous penalty attempts when some of the knockout ties go to penalties (please, please let them go to penalties) but we can safely say that none of them will be as bad as this.

The man guilty of the atrociously bad penalty was Čukarički’s Nenad Mirosavljević, who took the kick during an encounter with Radnički Niš in the Serbian league yesterday.

Mirosavljević, who played in the Champions League during his time at Cypriot side APOEL and actually scored against Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, tried to fool the ‘keeper with the old John Aldridge shuffle, but instead succeeded only in making a fool of himself and connecting with an attempt so weak that it might not have actually have reached the goal if the ‘keeper hadn’t gratefully smothered it into his arms.

For shame, Nenad, for shame.
